Not for the faint of feet
I'm always saving pages out of magazines that I want to use for inspiration later on. I tore out this Lever ad a while ago and said to Mark, "we need to try this after Harper is born."

Now that she's among us and old enough to sit with assistance, I located the ad again and said, "Let's try this!" But what we realized, after taking the photos and hearing some feedback, is that a baby chewing on someone's foot is sorta gross to look at, unless, like the Lever ad, it comes with the implication of super clean feet and good hygiene. So I'm not going to share the actual foot-chewing photos with you, though I will tell you that it was Mark's foot (sanitized, of course) and, for the sake of comedy, point out that Harper had just gotten her 2 teeth. (Ha ha ha! I'm still laughing about that -- "no, no, honey, don't worry, I'll take the photos.")

These don't have the same lighting as the ad or the completely white background, but I thought they were fun and captured the same sort of idea...

If they still gross you out, I apologize. : ) I just wanted to point out that sometimes it's nice to try something new (and by "try" I'm referring to photography, not feet!)

I can't tell you enough how beautiful Harper is! I love how she has a firm grip (with both hands) on Mark's feet. Making sure they don't get away from her.

Hi, If a national company can publish it with success, and not have half as cute a baby in the photo they use; then you can do it even better seeing as your model is way prettier. I love them.

    oh that is funny!

My family developed the expression, "Suck a toe!' and if only I could convince one of the kidlets to suck on my toe for a picture like this I would be so happy. They are too old and wise at just 4 years and 1 year old. Good thing you did this before Harper knew enough!

I like the photos by themselves, but even more with the addition of the inspiration photo and the story behind it. Harper is beautiful! Mark has cute feet, too! What a neat story.

I think they are darling Joanna! Great way to get a perspective on Harper's size - how small she is - and how....big (???) dad's feet are. (Not to say that your husbands feet are big.....just that they are big in relation to Harper of course.)

    :)

You know what I'm trying to say, right??

You crack me up! And if you hadn't mentioned that the whole idea is a little gross, it never would have occurred to me to be grossed out by it. (Then again, I'm married to a monkey who'll pick at me all day and would probably chew on my toes if they weren't so swollen.) :)

Okay, how did you get her to nibble? Did he just wave them around and she felt compelled to put them in her mouth? I have always wondered what goes through babies' minds!

She's such a blessing to us!

Great way to start the weekend!

About Us
Hi! I'm Joanna, author of this journal. My husband Mark and I are photographers in Asheville, North Carolina. Most recently we collaborated on a 12 week beginner photography course, the contents of which you can find
    • here.
    • The name of our company, Tuesday's Frog, is based on an almost wordless children's book about frogs that go flying on lily pads one night. We love it because it tells a story in pictures. Cole & Harper are our children, and frequent (though not always willing) photography subjects. So here you'll find not only the story of our lives, but of those we've photographed as well. We'd love to tell your story, too!
