our bedroom
So, with the bed finally constructed, I can show you our bedroom!

As I said before, the room design was based around a swatch of fabric, shown on the large pillowcases in photo #2.

I was a little scared of the color at first but I really like how the teal/brown together have such a calming effect on the room.

On one of the side walls are these 3 silk prints that Mark had framed after his trip to Japan several years ago. They match perfectly!

On our dresser are these digital silhouettes I made of the kids using Photoshop. Not quite the same as the way they used to make them, but I like how they turned out.

Also, I tried to get a better photo of the floors to show you.

You can still see the lines where each of the floorboards come together, and you can see some of the details in the wood as well when you walk over them. We used a floor enamel from Sherwin Williams to coat the floors, and it's supposed to be very durable. So far so good, anyway! I orginally saw the idea in a magazine and showed it to Mark, who promptly responding with "you're crazy!" But the good thing about him is he knows I'm crazy AND he still goes along with my ideas....occasionally. ; )
Here's a link I found on Real Simple while researching the floors online, in case you're interested...

Happy Friday!

Beautiful bedroom! And I *love* the silhouettes you did in Photoshop - I didn't even know that was possible to do! Very cool. The floors look very neat - such a cool idea! I'll have to file all those in the design file I have in my brain. :)(I used cool way too much - I need a new word. I really don't even say cool that much when I talk - must be a typing thing.)Anyway, awesome designing!

I LOVE the bedroom! I just got a catalog with the same color scheme and thought about redoing my room too. My first thought was how serene it felt. Something MUCH needed when you have kids huh? ;)

About Us
Hi! I'm Joanna, author of this journal. My husband Mark and I are photographers in Asheville, North Carolina. Most recently we collaborated on a 12 week beginner photography course, the contents of which you can find
    • here.
    • The name of our company, Tuesday's Frog, is based on an almost wordless children's book about frogs that go flying on lily pads one night. We love it because it tells a story in pictures. Cole & Harper are our children, and frequent (though not always willing) photography subjects. So here you'll find not only the story of our lives, but of those we've photographed as well. We'd love to tell your story, too!
