to my husband

Thank you for asking me out on a date when I was 21.
Thank you for asking me to marry you when I was 22.
Thank you for marrying me when I was 23.
Thank you for encouraging me to quit my chosen career path when I was 24.
Thank you for having a baby with me when I was 25.
Thank you for supporting my scrapbooking accomplishments when I was 26.
Thank you for building us a house when I was 27.
Thank you for having another baby with me when I was 28.
Thank you for walking beside me on a new career path when I was 29.
Thank you for taking me swimming with dolphins the day I turned 30.
And for everything everyday, I thank you.

I have dreaded turning 30 since I was about...oh, probably 24. My friend Jen sent me an email this week that said "enjoy your last week in your 20s. heheh." My mom sent me dead flowers (not intentionally, but it was funny.) I think they know me too well! But looking over this roadmap of my 20s I'd have to say that I'm not ducking for cover anymore. Well, somedays I might waiver, but I think I just might hold my head up high today, proud to be 30. Happy for where I've been and where we're going, and so, so thankful for Mark by my side and two sweet children holding my hands. Happy to be me. Even with a new driver's license that claims I'm 30.

    Happy Birthday, Joanna! I can totally relate. I dreaded turning 30 so much that I demanded no party. So my husband decided to throw me my 30th surprise party 2 days before I turned 31. Tricky!! It's not so bad now that I am there. Have a great day!!

      • The name of our company, Tuesday's Frog, is based on an almost wordless children's book about frogs that go flying on lily pads one night. We love it because it tells a story in pictures.
