They're back!

I was worried about our little monarch friends. But Mark spotted multiple caterpillars on the milkweed plants today, so I guess they're just a little behind schedule compared to last year.

That big white blob in the front is my thumb - I was trying to give you a visual size comparison to the little guy on the leaf. It's sort of hard to hold a heavy camera/macro lens combination with one hand while holding my thumb out with the other hand...

...also hard is leaning over so that you're almost folded in half and holding your breath (to remain still) while waiting for an upside-down caterpillar to stop munching on the milkweed plant long enough to look up...on second thought I guess I really didn't need to lean over so much but I wanted to be able to relate to my subject.

As always you can track the monarchs' journey to Mexico here.

Love your photos! But I wonder, don“t you scrap anymore? You are one of my favorite scrappers too.

Love the photographs. My granddaughter and I adopt two or three Monarch caterpillars every year. We feed them, clean up after them - they poop a lot - babysit their cocoons and release them when their wings are dry and it's warm enough for them to fly.

It's a tradition that started when she was in kindergarten She is now in Grade 6 and we are still fostering Monarchs.

About Us
Hi! I'm Joanna, author of this journal. My husband Mark and I are photographers in Asheville, North Carolina. Most recently we collaborated on a 12 week beginner photography course, the contents of which you can find
    • here.
    • The name of our company, Tuesday's Frog, is based on an almost wordless children's book about frogs that go flying on lily pads one night. We love it because it tells a story in pictures. Cole & Harper are our children, and frequent (though not always willing) photography subjects. So here you'll find not only the story of our lives, but of those we've photographed as well. We'd love to tell your story, too!
