There once was a little boy who wanted to share his toy with his sister in the swing even though she kept snoring
Okay, I know, terrible poem, but funny photos, right??Labels: a humorous life |

| young and old |
8 weeks and 97 years... Harper and Nannie spent some time together this past weekend. Harper's the youngest of 15 great-grands for Nannie. I can only imagine how many babies she's held in 97 years of life, but she always manages to make each one feel special and coos over 'em and loves 'em all.Labels: Harper |

| Monday, Monday |

I thought I'd use a "monday morning green" filter on this photo in honor of the fact that it is yet again Monday. This is the luscious green scene that greets us each time we return home from spending a weekend in Charlotte. I love this view!
Seeing the mountains this way never fails to remind me of the first time I encountered them. Aboard a teeny prop plane on its way to the Asheville airport, I remember staring out of my smudged window, incredulous at the vast amount of trees I was viewing below me. Coming from rural Minnesota, I was used to rows and rows of cornfields and an open road, and not at all familiar with the twists and turns of mountain living! I was flying into Asheville for an interview with a children's book company, one that would thankfully hire me and turn my life upside down (in a good way, of course!)
It's a little hard to believe that it's been 7 years since that first glimpse of North Carolina. 7 years since I left my childhood home and created a new one here. 7 years, two jobs, one husband, two kids, and a house of our own to call home. I am so thankful for this view!Labels: Asheville |

| At the Fair |
My sister, Kristina, and I loaded up Cole and Harper this morning and took them to the Mt. State Fair. We saw all the normal sights first - cows, horses, goats, lamas, etc. Cole and I even rode on a camel! All kidding aside, it was a bumpier ride than I thought it would be. I cannot imagine riding on it for any length of time, though I'm sure you'd get used to the loping after awhile. [Alas, there are no camel photos because my sister couldn't figure out the camera. Apparently she is not aware of my need to document everything!! I think I might need to give her some lessons!]
Anyway, we had just finished eating lunch when it started to sprinkle....then dribble...and then POUR! Wouldn't you know we were at the completely opposite end of the grounds from where we had parked? Of course we were... So we ran toward the animal barns and spent some intimate time with the horses who belong to the Henderson County mounted police. But I wouldn't change the fact that we got a little soaked (except for Harper, who was cannopied in her stroller and slept for the entire excursion) because it was during that unplanned, unexpected time that I captured this:

I just love my little guy being so affectionate! And brave, too, since he's not around horses that often. So that's my happy photo of the day...Labels: Cole |
