| Hair today, gone tomorrow |
In the ongoing saga of ad inspiration in Joanna's life...
Remember those feet photos? Recently I discovered this ad in Mark's Entertainment Weekly. I have no idea what it's really advertising, but I liked the way the hair was featured.

So, I decided to try something similar. Except when we tried to photograph my hair in a similar fashion I discovered a few things, the main one being the fact that it's impossible to lay down with your back flat on a piano bench and hold your head and shoulders far enough off the end of it in any manner that feels comfortable, or, for that matter, looks comfortable in photos. You laugh, but I dare you to try it! In addition, there's really no way to smile while contorting oneself for a photo as such. I would really like to know how the model did it.
SO, on a fluke, we tried something else, and came up with this.

Which looks funny if you turn it like so...
and I was really tempted to scrap it this way!
But ANYWAY, now that you've all had time to examine my roots (hair appointment on Tuesday!) I wanted to share the end results. A scrapbook page, of course -- about myself, no less! but fun. (especially when I remember trying to dangle my head off that piano bench.)

| a fleeting encounter |
 around noon today
PS. take a closer look at the upper right-hand corner PPS. Yes, it's real! only took me 150 photos or so to get that 1...butterflies are fast little buggers.Labels: Asheville, Cole |

| The day after |
Hey now --I didn't exactly say that it was my birthday, but somehow you figured it out, anyway. Thank you so much for your kind words and birthday wishes! They mean a lot to me!
It was a good day Kris came over to watch the kids I met Mark downtown for lunch did a little shoe shopping and returned home relaxed, refreshed, and well-fed
The best part, I'd have to say, is when the fun continues for another day! When we came home from the park today there was a bouquet of the most beautiful blue irises sitting on the doorstep. (They go quite well with the adorable daisies received yesterday.) Plus some cards and a few packages in the mail. Such a great way to extend the fun. So thank you, thank you, thank you! Even if I did just become another year older. |

| Harper's new skill |
She is quite adept at making faces. (I don't really know whose child she is.) Apparently she just read something alarming on the back of the lotion bottle. And yes, before you ask, she is sitting in the bathroom sink.
Proceed to the closeup. If you look at her hair, you might also think that she's sprouting wings.
So I guess that makes it two skills for the day, instead of just one.Labels: Harper |

| What do you love? |
Conversations with Cole
Cole: I love Saturn. Me: The planet? Cole: Yup. Me: Well, do you love Mommy, Daddy, and Harper, too? Cole: No. Just two things: my flashlight and my nightlight. (Both of these have Saturn on them and were bought last week in an attempt to keep him from coming into our room at 1 AM because he's scared. So far, so good!)
The following evening at dinner Cole: I love chocolate milk. Me: It is good, isn't it? Do you love Mommy, Daddy, and Harper, too? Cole: no. Just Aunt Kris.
Ah. Good to know where we stand -- below Saturn, chocolate milk, and Aunt Kris.Labels: a humorous life, Cole |
