I was flipping through the latest CK on Friday and came across this ad:

That's Miss Harper! The photo was taken late last summer, as she practiced walking by holding onto Daddy's hand and going around and around and around our backyard (with soft grass to break her fall.) She was not a confident walker and didn't start walking consistently until she was around 14 months old, but you can tell from the smile on her face that she was starting to get the hang of it. I love the memory that one little photo can jog in your mind.

the party

I love this photo. This little girl was just so happy to have a day all about her.

A little help from Daddy with blowing out the candles.

But she didn't need any help eating the cupcake!

My mom found that pink tiara in a little shop in Rochester called "Orange Clementine." We weren't sure if she'd wear it or not but I think she was too distracted by the cupcake to care. She calls it her "pretty hat."

Our first glimpse of the birthday girl this morning...we hung birthday streamers in the doorway.

Pigtails and a poptart for breakfast.

Hayes & Mike | ceremony
Such a beautiful ceremony!

After the ceremony we snuck them away for a few shots on the golf course. When Hayes first said she wanted photos of the tiger paw on the 17th hole we were envisioning something little..but the tiger paw is actually quite large and directly behind them -- the four sand traps are its claws.

The rings...

Colleen & Andy | 7.6
Colleen & Andy were married at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Hendersonville last Friday.

Colleen's flowers were from the Flower Market, also in Hendersonville.

The handsome ring bearer, Luke.

Colleen was doing fine until Andy's mom, grandma, and sister came back downstairs after getting their first glimpse of the groom! Then the tears started to flow.

Surrounded at the altar by her mom & dad.

Yay! I think they look pretty happy, don't you?

at the post office
Today at the post office Harper was her usual self, saying "bye bye!" to each person in line as they departed while making the postmistress laugh. As we walked out Cole said, "Mommy, I'm not much of a talker." When I agreed he added, "I'm just a quiet man."
Indeed Cole, you are.
Except in the mornings. around 6:30 am.
Then you could be much, much quieter.

I could get myself a scale and ship packages from home, but with entertainment like this who knows what I'd be missing.

They're back!

The butterfly exhibit is back at the Nature Center for the summer. We decided to visit today since Mark had the day off from work, so after breakfast we packed up our picnic lunch, stroller, and camera (of course) and hit the road.

Here's goober #1 chillin' in his lawn chair while waiting for Daddy to make his way out of the house.

Little miss skeptic and the butterflies...

...note the right arm held tightly behind her back, to make sure that we knew that she was absolutely NOT interested in touching such ferocious beasts.

This shot's my favorite. : )

Here's Mark sporting a little sock tattoo. I wonder how many butterflies escape from the exhibit this way!

It was a good morning! (Special thanks to Mom for renewing our family pass for us!) Now Mark & I are off to celebrate the afternoon with Colleen & Andy at their wedding.

11 minutes in the life of a toddler
When you are almost 2 and have a big brother (and are very, very stubborn to boot) you tend to think that you are actually 4 and can do the same things as the aforementioned big brother.

So when someone tells you differently, you tend to get a little bent out of shape.

But then you're distracted by what Big Brother is doing now and decide to help.

When Mommy asks, "Harper, have you been eating rocks?"

You vigorously deny the accusation....until you realize that the evidence is still in your hands (and on your mouth)...

...and then you say "no cheese, mommy! No cheese!" (meaning no more photos)

And just as quickly you're distracted again, this time by the passing mail car...

After "helping" mommy to open up her package you try and identify the latest scrapbooking supply she's received...all the while secretly plotting where to hide it so that Mommy can never ever find it again.

From 11:12-11:23 am.
