finally back online!

Our modem died on Wednesday.
That's Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
All day.
no internet.
Yes, I went through withdrawals!

Finally UPS dropped off the new modem this evening, and Mark installed it.
YAY!
I think I need an iphone, just in case this happens again.

So anyway, if you emailed, I'm just now catching up.

"H"

Guess who learned how to write her letter "H" the other day?
She was so proud to show me this page full of letters!
Of course, she wrote them on the backside of Cole's go-cart drawing (the purple part that shows through on the scan) so he wasn't too happy about that, but he IS the one who taught her how to write it!

meet Ella

The thing about a 5 week old versus a newborn is that they tend to like to stay awake for photoshoots.

Which is absolutely fine with us, especially when they look at the camera (look at those beautiful dark eyes!)

Here's Ella & mom, Amy...

...oh, and here's Amy's other baby. (Technically firstborn, I guess...meet Zoe.)

a day off

We played hooky from our regular obligations today and headed to the Nature Center this morning (by way of Starbucks and Walmart and Hancock Fabrics because I remembered after we departed at 8:30am that the Nature Center didn't open until 10.)

Apparently it's not a very popular place in 40 degree weather on an overcast day, but that was okay with us! After all, we were stocked up with mittens and hats & our winter coats (and camera, of course.)

This guy greeted us right as we walked out the door...

The goats, too, seemed happy to see us. As you know, Cole's a long time fan.

But even Harper has finally decided that they're okay (except when they try to nibble on her coat!)

But what really made me happy was when they decided that maybe, just maybe it was okay to hold hands for a little bit as we walked.

And after that I put the camera away because I knew I didn't need any more photos for the day.
Please excuse the remnants of Scooby Doo tattoos from their foreheads.

Harper's Hearts

When we dropped Cole off at school today Ms. Brenda, the director, gave Harper her VERY OWN BOX of conversation hearts. Needless to say, Harper was over the moon, and the whole way home she kept saying very excitedly, "Mommy! Hearts! Valentine's Day!" (yes, I realize Valentine's Day is actually tomorrow, but they are celebrating it at Cole's school today.)

Except for the brief moment when I merely borrowed 3 hearts to take this photo (can you hear the screeching?) she has been happily chomping on them and feeding them to her puppy.

After the heart stealing incident she thought it fair to only share one broken, crumbling orange heart with me. The rest, apparently, are for puppy, her real true love.

Last week:
Cole was sick.
Then Harper was sick.
Then I got sick.
Luckily Mark has avoided us (I mean, it) thus far.
'Tis the season, right?
Hopefully Harper will be on the mend soon -- she still sounds terrible while the rest of us are feeling better. Cole, on the other hand, has recovered just in time for 2 birthdays and a Valentine's party this week at school.
It's all about the timing!

I had a meeting yesterday and drove through buckets of rain (not fun) to get there. On the way home, though, the storm had cleared out in time to catch the sunset (pretty enough to make power lines look good.)
