| Megan & Garrett | April 27th, 2008 |
Sometimes when the weather calls for a 70% chance of rain and you've planned an outdoor wedding you've just got to go with the flow. And that's exactly what Megan & Garrett did this past Sunday! We overheard Garrett talking to Megan on the phone prior to the wedding, assuring her that it was clearing up. But Megan and her dad came prepared, just in case!

Their wedding took place in the Pavilion overlooking the beautiful Chimney Rock Mountains in Lake Lure, with the fog & low-lying clouds just enhancing the vista.

After Megan walked to the front of the Pavilion she looked around at the guests and then over at Garrett and then back at the guests and you could just feel how excited she was to be there - the joy of knowing your wedding day has finally arrived!

And sometimes the rain tapers off just in time to take some shots down by the river... Megan & Garrett, we hope you're having a wonderful (warm, dry) time on your honeymoon cruise! We so enjoyed your beautiful day! Labels: Asheville wedding photography |

| officially registered for Kindergarten |
I'm not sure if that's a "Waaaaaaaaahhhh" or a "Yaaaaaay!" I'm ambivalent about it right now, but I'm sure it'll feel a lot more real in August. Cole, on the other hand, is pretty excited about it, so I'm happy about that.Labels: Cole |

"Come over here," she beckons, "there's beauty to be seen."
 "Behold, spring green."
Then later on, the azalea gardens.Labels: Asheville, spring |

| another bit of crafty goodness |

These just arrived today...the cutest bulletin boards ever!
Jennifer's got some great product photography on her etsy site, but I thought I'd share this photo since it shows just how plush the boards really are. There's a corkboard inside each one and then it's outfitted in funky fabric and encased in a hoop. Love them. I think it'd be really fun to get some for Harper's room, so I can't wait for her to add more designs to the site! |

| a funny one |

Last night Harper was having difficulty putting on her pajamas, so I asked, "Are you having trouble, Harper?" Fittingly, she replied, "I am twouble."
Indeed.Labels: Harper |

| excerpts from Cole's Zoo |

Cole has been very interested in making books lately, so I thought I'd share a few of his illustrations from The Zoo. I particularly like how the shark's jaws are separate from his body as top dog in the water tank there on the right.Labels: artwork |

| signs of spring, cont. |

Unfortunately, mama bird thought that the top of our natural gas cylinder in the backyard would be a great spot to build a nest. And it is, in that it's sheltered from the elements and hidden from view, except for the fact that we usually get the gas tank refilled each month. So we've put in a call to the gas company to have our refills postponed for the time being. After all, we don't want to fumigate any poor baby birds or give the gas man a heart attack like Mark received yesterday when he opened up the top to check the levels, only to have mama bird came flying out directly at him. We'll just try and keep those little eggs safe and sound for now.Labels: spring |

| Ryan & Sarah | Engaged! |

When Sarah moved to Winston-Salem to begin her residency friends told her that it was unlikely she'd meet a guy in her new hometown. Well, it's a good thing they were wrong! Ryan & Sarah will be married by the lake in October of this year. They were kind enough to travel to Asheville for Ryan's birthday this weekend so we spent some time with them in the wide open spaces of the NC Arboretum on Saturday. It was such a relaxed, calm, happy day -- very similar in spirits to this sweet couple.Labels: Asheville area engagement sessions |

| flecks of green |

I mentioned once that Harper's eyes look almost green in the sunlight...not really both eyes, just one. Can you see the green around the pupil in her eye on the right?Labels: Harper |

| peas porridge in the pot, nine days old |
This post really has nothing to do with peas, but everything to do with Miss Catherine, nine days old...

Oh, it's a tough job, photographing babies, but somebody's gotta do it...and it might as well be me!
Seriously, who can resist a monogrammed tush?
 Congratulations, Caroline & John!

| thanks! |
It's nice to receive positive feedback to know that we're doing our jobs well (or constructive criticism to help us improve.) In addition to letting our clients know that we're thankful for them, it's a great surprise when we receive a thank you, too! A thank you means a lot to us, so I thought I'd share a few.
The other day I received a phone call from Kim, who was so happy with her photos. It was so nice to hear her excitement on the phone! She said that receiving her photos in the mail was like opening up a present, and that makes us happy, too! Thank you, Kim!
We also received this sweet thank you from Heather & Jerry, married last October.
Here's an excerpt from the note:
"Not only were the photos beautiful, but your personalities brought so much to our wedding. We love looking at the photos (over & over) because they bring us back to a wonderful day and they remind us of the great people who took them! Thank you so much for helping us preserve such special memories!"
Heather and Jerry are in the midst of a big life change as they are moving to Germany. Actually, I think Jerry's already over there, serving and protecting our country. And Heather will head over soon to be reunited with her husband and to build their life together in an entirely new place (slightly different than living in Asheville, NC, I suppose.) Thank YOU, Heather and Jerry, for taking the time to write during such a hectic time in your lives! We wish so many good things for you! Thanks especially to Jerry for helping to preserve the integrity of this place we call home and to Heather for supporting him all the way.Labels: thanks |
