We received the sweetest little woodgrain note from Jennifer & Jason and Jennifer's family yesterday. Here's an excerpt:

| Happy Birthday, Charlie! |
I hung out at the park with Charlie yesterday, and he gave me a run for my money! Everybody knows grass and leaves and birthday cake are much more interesting than a camera!
So he had to be conned into smiling - a little assistance from Daddy did the trick!

| strawberries, strawberries |
We made our annual trek to the strawberry patch today. Officially it was "picked out" already this morning but I'd spoken with the owner ahead of time and he'd suggested that we arrive late to avoid the crowds, if we weren't really that interested in getting baskets full of berries but rather just having fun.
So that's what we did, and though the berries were indeed a little smaller and harder to find, we still enjoyed ourselves immensely.
True to form, it didn't take Harper long to rekindle her love for fresh strawberries...
Except maybe for these green ones...we'll just leave those for Daddy.Labels: Asheville, spring |

I'm a sucker for boxes AND stripes, which apparently my friend Jen knows, because she sent me this adorable little wooden box courtesy of Tricycle Design. | This kid |
This kid sang his heart out at preschool graduation...
...and tonight he's returning home from a weekend with Mark's parents to this suprise on his wall.
(The mural is from PBK and I have to say that even though I like the end result it was a pain in the behind to put up...but then again, Mark and I have never hung wallpaper or anything similar to that before. It took us about 2 hours after purchasing a few supplies: a water tray, a wallpaper brush, and a sponge.)Labels: Cole |

| Miss Is |
Meet Isabel - longed for, loved, and oh-so-adorable!
At 13 weeks she is very expressive and vocal. Her parents call her Chopstick because she loves to smile (and laugh) when they read from the takeout menu. Hee! She made me giggle!

| an easy teacher gift |
Cole's last day of preschool is on Friday, so we prepped these gifts for his teachers today. They were super easy to make and Cole was proud that he helped with the projects - we simply adhered vinyl lettering from Once Upon a Design to stackable glass jars from Target. The vinyl is easy to adhere and sticks well (but is removeable if you need it to be.)Labels: kids' crafts |

| "avoid them!" |
6 prescriptions later, we have returned from the doctor's office...yes, you read that right. Granted, 2 are for medications that Cole has been taking daily since he was 2 for asthma and allergies, we just needed refills...3 others are inhalers (long-term & rescue) as well as a spacer, to replace the nebulizer machine we had been using. These are just to be used "as needed" in case of flare-ups. The remaining one is an antibiotic for an ear infection which cropped up in the midst of this. And the kicker is, Cole doesn't even have "bad" asthma. His is usually very well maintained, and his doctor is super cautious about prescribing medicine and making sure we're following Cole's asthma action plan.
But there is one thing that we must avoid, above else... One cute, adorable animal that wreaks havoc on his body...that kicked his asthma into high gear over the weekend. When I asked his doctor if there was anything else we could do he said, "Yes! Avoid them!" Which is why I thought this photo that we took at the Arboretum this past Fall was appropriate (apparently dogs aren't allowed in the Bonsai gardens, either.)
And that, my friends, is another day in the life of Cole.

| on QVC today |
Just an FYI - Creating Keepsakes is selling a special HOF (Hall of Fame) kit on QVC today - the show is on currently until 11am (EST) as well as at 6pm this evening.
The HOF kit is super cool because each Hall of Famer who was asked to contribute to it actually got to design the pieces that went on their layouts. SO you just might be able to purchase something like this, for example, quite possibly designed by me.

| from April showers... |
...to May flowers!
Or at least one flower, by Cole, given to me.
It should be noted that there is at least another 8 inches of "dirt" at the bottom of this drawing (he glued two pieces of paper together.) I couldn't figure out a good way to scan it, but apparently his flowers have deep roots. and ant colonies below the surface. and are serviced by yellow & blue striped bees.
