Hello! I'm Joanna, author of this photo journal. My husband, Mark, and I are professional photographers in Asheville, North Carolina. The name of our company, Tuesday's Frog, is based on an almost-wordless children's book about mischievous frogs that go flying on lily pads one night. We love this book because the illustrations are truly the heart of the story. Speaking of mischievous, Cole & Harper are our children, and frequent, though not always willing, photography subjects. Here you'll find not only the stories of our everyday lives, but of those we've photographed in our capacity as professional photographers as well. Please feel free to browse the links above, check out the archives at the bottom of the journal for more photo stories, or subscribe and receive email updates of all our antics. Enjoy!

Computer Tricks for Scrapbooking 3
Last August I worked on some layouts & albums for Jessica Sprague's Computer Tricks for Scrapbooking 3. I just received my copy of the issue yesterday (as well as my projects back) so I thought I'd share one of my favorites with you.
This "On the Day You Were Born" folder contains one insert for each member of our family, with pertinent info about that day - the current president, price of gas, etc. - as well as a photo.
To check out Jessica's work and learn more about digital photography, design, and scrapbooking, (she's literally brimming with ideas all the time!) you can visit her website at jessicasprague.com.
My mom just reminded me that I have a layout on the Designing With... calendar page for today. These photos were taken in Italy, oh so long ago (okay, so 3.5 years - before Harper, anyway.) I wonder where we'll go the next time we travel abroad -- or when that will be? So tell me, what vacations are you currently planning? Where would you love to go on a trip? Indulge my travel bug, will you?
I did a layout a few months ago for Jessica Sprague's column in the August issue of Creating Keepsakes, which just landed in my mailbox last week. (Forgive the bad scan, will ya?) The layout includes a bunch of my favorite phrases that Harper uses (for example, she says "MMs," instead of "M and Ms." The last line, which you probably can't read from here, includes an excerpt of a daily conversation she would have with people we encountered while running errands:
Stranger to Harper: How are you? H: Two. Stranger: How old are you? H. Good.
For some reason there's a disconnect whenever someone asks Harper how old she is. Now she's actually changed up her responses a bit so when someone asks how old she is she says, "Harper Kate." (When I try to prompt her by saying that they want to know her age she responds with "H.") The ONLY time you'll get a number out of her is when you happen to inquire with Cole, first, about how old he is (5). And THEN when you ask Harper the same question she'll say very matter-of-factly and in all seriousness: "Six."
PS. I forgot to mention that the thought bubble on the layout is from the digi kit found here.
Just an FYI - Creating Keepsakes is selling a special HOF (Hall of Fame) kit on QVC today - the show is on currently until 11am (EST) as well as at 6pm this evening. The HOF kit is super cool because each Hall of Famer who was asked to contribute to it actually got to design the pieces that went on their layouts. SO you just might be able to purchase something like this, for example, quite possibly designed by me.
I was flipping through the latest CK on Friday and came across this ad:
That's Miss Harper! The photo was taken late last summer, as she practiced walking by holding onto Daddy's hand and going around and around and around our backyard (with soft grass to break her fall.) She was not a confident walker and didn't start walking consistently until she was around 14 months old, but you can tell from the smile on her face that she was starting to get the hang of it. I love the memory that one little photo can jog in your mind.
I was pleased to have been asked to write the Snapshot Savvy column on camera modes for the current issue of Scrapbooks, Etc. When the issue arrived in the mail I flipped through it locate the column and promptly showed it to my loyal audience. When I pointed out Cole's picture to him he was IMMEDIATELY distracted by the colorful Sandylion ad on the opposing page and said, "I like this better, Mommy." Then he asked if he could be the boy playing with the train instead. Harper, of course, couldn't get past the fact that there was a "puppy doooog" on the cover. So, that was that.
On a different topic, I have to say that I'm slightly less enamored with spring today considering that I was stung by a wasp on the back of the neck yesterday. I am thankful that it didn't sting the kids, since I'd just sat down on the back steps where the three of us usually hang out together to enjoy our afternoon snack on warm days. I'm also thankful that it wasn't a spider bite from one of the two poisonous spiders that reside in NC and are always lurking in the back of my mind.
Just thought I'd share these thank you cards I made after Harper's birthday. Mix some white paint with the Die Cuts w/ a View card kit and you're set! Easy peasy.
Check out that cutie patootie in the bottom left-hand corner! *wink wink* What I like about this book is that it's a combination of digital scrappers and those of us who like to incorporate a few digital elements on our pages. A little somethin' for everyone, so to speak! Available for preorder now -- due out in October!
Okay boys and girls, it's time to turn our calendars to APRIL. And you know what that means - yup, Cole's a calendar boy! Okay, I know, totally shameless self-promotion, but I recently rediscovered my 2005 CK calendar buried under a few pounds of cardstock (let me apologize to those scrappers I missed from Jan-March) and I thought I would hang it up in my scraproom and appreciate it. So this is a little view from my room. Happy April everybody!! May it bring more flowers than showers.
