Hello! I'm Joanna, author of this photo journal. My husband, Mark, and I are professional photographers in Asheville, North Carolina. The name of our company, Tuesday's Frog, is based on an almost-wordless children's book about mischievous frogs that go flying on lily pads one night. We love this book because the illustrations are truly the heart of the story. Speaking of mischievous, Cole & Harper are our children, and frequent, though not always willing, photography subjects. Here you'll find not only the stories of our everyday lives, but of those we've photographed in our capacity as professional photographers as well. Please feel free to browse the links above, check out the archives at the bottom of the journal for more photo stories, or subscribe and receive email updates of all our antics. Enjoy!
Jessica also incorporated lots of etsy goodies in the mix. Here's a partial list: Ring Bowl : Paloma's Nest Hair accessories, corsages, and boutonnieres: Twigs & Honey Silk-screened ties for the groomsmen & dads: Toybreaker Linen & Lace Lovebirds (cake toppers): Cotton Bird Designs
Sigh....how I love a beautiful wedding. This one had it all - a sweet, emotional couple, a beautiful setting, perfect light, and wonderful event staff. It was just the absolute right combination of elements for a wedding day. Combine that with the fact that this was the first wedding after our August break, and well, you're going to see a lot of photos!
Location was very important to Ashlyn & Kevin. You can see that reflected not only in Kevin's custom-made map cufflinks, but also in the fact that they chose Asheville, (and specifically, Claxton Farm) for their wedding day celebration. They, and their family and friends, came from all across the country just for this event!
Ashlyn took a last-minute survey of everything before putting her dress on at the Farm. Here she is with her vibrant bouquet, courtesy of Janet over at the Enchanted Florist.
Personally, I love a windswept veil, and Ashlyn's veil definitely had a mind of its own!
A hug from dad right before the ceremony...
...a little flower lovin' for the goats from the flower girl...
The setting was truly gorgeous!
A few photos during the vows...
The glow of the setting sun...
...and a jumping shot, just for Ashlyn!
After dinner they danced under the light of the moon to a blue grass band.
This shimmery lil' note arrived late last week from Laura and Travis. Laura has the prettiest handwriting! Here's an excerpt: Joanna & Mark...we loved how you were able to find "us" and bring that out in the photos. We appreciate how easy to work with and energetic you both were and we're so thankful for all of the stress you took off our shoulders!
Their note also reminded me that I wanted to show you an inspiration board of the colors for their wedding. I loved the combination of navy blue with that crisp, cool green in their wedding details (particularly the ribbons around the cake and the napkins!) We've actually been seeing a lot of green this year. I'll have to do another post about that...
